Cannot Eject Media From an Optical Drive

ISSUE:


Customer cannot eject media from optical drive by pressing the eject button on the drive, or right clicking on the drive icon in Windows and selecting "eject".

SOLUTION:


Startup type for Removable Storage service needs to be changed from "automatic" to "manual". Change the setting as follows(WinXP/Win2K):

On the desktop, right click on My Computer and select "manage"
On the left side of the Computer Management window, click the + sign next to "Services and Applications"
Click Services
In the main window, scroll down until you locate "Removable Storage", and double-click on it.
Change the Startup Type from "automatic" to "manual". Click OK
Reboot
