HP and Compaq PCs - Microsoft Windows Networking Error Codes

This document applies to Windows 95, 98, Me, and XP.

This document lists dial-up networking (DUN) and Remote Access Service (RAS) error codes, and provides a brief description of each code.

This document does not provide solutions for these error codes. Restarting your computer or removing/reinstalling the modem from Device manager may resolve most of these errors. The following support information is available for further troubleshooting:

NOTE: This error is one of the more common errors that can usually be resolved by removing the dial-up modem name from Device Manager, restarting the PC, and then waiting for Windows Plug and Play process to find and reinstall the modem.
